When it comes to credit cards, Virgin Money seems to be very popular. But why? According to clients, they offer something unique – no annual card fees. Sounds attractive, right? Well, a lot of people agree, which is why the Virgin Money credit card has been voted the most popular card by users of independent online financial comparison Web site, ThinkMoney.
The survey was conducted after users left just under 7 000 reviews, of which Virgin Money credit card received 645 reviews. This was also the highest number of reviews any credit card in South Africa received, showing just how popular the card really is.
Users gave the Virgin Money Credit Card a very high overall star rating of four out of five, with 81% of reviewers saying they would recommend the card to other people. Unsurprisingly, the Virgin Money card is also one of the cheapest credit cards on the market, as they charge “no annual card fee”, although other fees apply.
Comparing Other Cards
The Virgin Money credit card has a wider market as opposed to other offers, but two credit cards still scored quite well. Even though Investec’s Private Bank card is only available to select consumers, and the Nedbank Dezign card is aimed at students In terms of other criteria, they still scored top marks by users. They both scored an average of 4.4 stars out of five.
Other popular credit cards were the Absa Silver credit card, which received 546 reviews and an average rating of 3.2 stars out of five. It received high marks for its Internet banking facilities (3.4 out of five) but a low rating for the retail discounts it offers (only 2.1 out of five).
The Absa Gold card, Standard Bank Gold card and both the FNB Silver and Gold cards also received large numbers of reviews.
